IWSG: We Have A T-Shirt!

Welcome to the Wednesday, July 1st meeting of the Insecure Writer's Support Group. Check out the IWSG website for weekly posts and resources HERE. To visit other participants, click HERE.

Our July 1st co-hosts are:

We have a new t-shirt! You can purchase it HERE.

Here it is July 1st and I'm pleased to say that my Galaxy Nomads: Chronicles of the MacKenzie Clan book tour was a complete success. To all those who participated I give a hearty thank you! Without friends and fellow bloggers our books wouldn't be seen by others.

Sometimes, in the middle of all the social media, I begin to feel overwhelmed and have a sinking feeling that makes me want to hide. But thanks to the support I've received I'm not afraid to get out there and put myself in the middle of things. I especially want to thank my sister, Retta Stephenson, at Art By Retta, who not only did my book cover but has given me pointers about using social media. The fear lessens when you begin seeing results. Thanks to everyone!

  1. Thanks for visiting Word by Word and your words of encouragement. I'm glad you say the fear lessens, because social media still terrifies me. I still feel like I'm a crazy person shouting in the middle of the street, and no one is paying attention to me.

    1. Stephanie: Hah! I like that! "I'm a crazy person shouting in the middle of the street, and no one is paying attention to me." How true! Sometimes I forget it's about them and not me.

  2. Karen, thanks for visiting "Homeless Chronicles in Tampa" although I had not yet posted my #IWSG post. I'm trying to start a writing pattern again, as I did before my partner fell ill and died. He passed away in May, and I'm still pulling it together. I also started playing again in the interim and I'm glad to be doing that, but now, I have more stuff to write about than I did before. I'm just monumentally disorganized at the moment. It will come together. Thanks again for the kind comments and the visit; it is appreciated! I'm sorry you had to give up playing the viola; it's my number one pleasure and I've played for many years. It's good to be back! Thanks, Mary

    1. Mary: I always felt playing my viola was the cream on the strawberries. I loved playing and was very busy until I finally had to quit. I still shy away from concerts because of the knot in my gut. I guess I'm still angry, even though it's been a number of years. Gotta work on that.
Welcome back! You'll get organized as time goes by. Don't try to push it. It'll happen gradually as you heal.

  4. Congratulations on the successful book tour, beautiful new cover, and happy release of your latest book. Wow! And yet IWSG (this is my first month here) invites us to share our insecurities -- which you do so beautifully. I guess if I think about social media (GoodReads, Twitter, FB, Pinterest) as a way to connect with others of like mind, I feel less intimidated. When I start saying to myself, I must post . . . . then my reluctance increases. May the month ahead be a good one for you! Beth

    1. Thank you, Beth. I suppose part of it is how I'm feeling about myself. I have to believe in me before I can expect anyone else to. And yet I'm sure others might have similar insecurities at times. Yes?

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog with the IWSG! Congrats on a successful book tour and you're right, our writing could not get out there without the help of friends and fellow bloggers/writers.

  6. I'm tickled pink over how well your book tour went.

I had to smile at this, since it's frequently how I feel, also: "I'm a crazy person shouting in the middle of the street, and no one is paying attention to me."

But, we all just keep trying. It's inside us, and we just have to. As Vincent Van Gogh said: "I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart."

  7. Retta: "I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart." That makes you see where your priorities are. Thanks for sharing!
